About Jason

Jason Lochhead

Jason Lochhead

Coach

Born and raised in Tauranga, New Zealand. Jason has started playing on the World Tour from 2004 to 2012. He has achieved numerous top 10 results on the FIVB World Tour including some of his best being a Bronze medal, reaching top 10 at World Champs, and was a semi-finalist at the Grand Slam Klagenfurt. From 2013 to 2016, Jason entered a new chapter in his career with coaching where he picked up Vanuatu's women's team (Miller Pata & Linline Matauatu) and Canada's men's team (Chaim Schalk & Ben Saxton). He accomplished taking Canada's men's team to Rio Olympics 2016. Thereafter, Jason teamed up with USA's men's team (Phil Dalhausser & Nick Lucena) from 2017 to 2021, which they competed at Tokyo Olympics 2021. During the time of coaching Phil & Nick, he acquired a job opportunity working with Florida State University as an assistant coach for beach volleyball from 2018 to 2021. Presently, he has created a new beach volleyball program with Volleyball New Zealand, where he and his family currently resides.
